Gatorade!!!!!
Get it while you can...............

To help athletes get the most out of their bodies, scientists from Gatorade have created G Series Pro a new line of products supported by the latest sports performance science and developed in collaboration with some of the worlds greatest athletes to provide fuel, fluid and nutrients before, during and after activity.

Think of the G Series Pro as the “1-2-3” of G. Gatorade 02 Perform is formulated to help replace the fluid and electrolytes lost during exercise and ensure rapid rehydration, in addition it is a 6% carbohydrate beverage to help fuel working muscles.

• Gatorade 02 Perform is a better choice than water for those engaging in significant physical activity because, unlike water, it contains a special balance of electrolytes and carbohydrates, which stimulate fluid intake, ensure rapid rehydration and provide energy to active muscles.
• Gatorade 02 Perform doesnt contain any artificial sweeteners, flavours, colours or any preservatives.
• Rehydrate
o Sweat rates are highly individual and can range from 500ml to in excess of 2 L per hour depending on environmental conditions and exercise intensity
o It is recommended to limit fluid losses to no more than 2% of pre-exercise body mass without drinking so much that you actually gain weight during exercise
• Refuel
o Carbohydrates are the primary source of fuel during prolonged strenuous exercise
o The carbohydrates in Gatorade 02 Perform provide energy to working muscles to maintain carbohydrate oxidation during exercise
• Replenish
o As sweat rates are highly variable so is the composition of sweat
o Gatorade 02 Perform is scientifically formulated to help replace the fluid and electrolytes lost during exercise and ensure rapid rehydration.
o The key electrolytes in G Series Pro 02 Perform are sodium and potassium. They are essential for maintaining fluid balance, helping to replace fluids and minerals that are lost through sweat and aiding rehydration

• Product Information (per 500ml)
o 30g carbohydrate dextrose (glucose) and sucrose (glucose & fructose)
o 250mg sodium; 60mg potassium; 235mg chloride; 25mg magnesium

Great Scottish Run 02/09/12

This half marathon I had wanted to take part in since I had done the Edinburgh marathon back in may 2012.

Glasgow is not somewhere I had been to visit before, its a city I have always just passed straight through while going further north, so I new very little about the city. I checked out the route and it looked pretty good for a city centre race. The route passed through 3 green park areas and was not particularly undulating! This I ended up being very grateful for, seeing as two weeks previous I had done the Haddington Half which was VERY undulating!

The gather up before the start of the race was pretty electric as is often the case before the start of the “Great” series of races. It was well organised with everyone wearing their various colours depending on which 'wave' you were in. The elite runners went off first, but within a couple of minutes each wave was being set off so there was no hanging about!

The route did start on a small hill so it got you thinking.....and wondering! Being held in a city and with 24000 runners it was a pretty crowded course, the first 5 miles were steady because of this, it is therefore not a PB course unless you are at the front of the waves. The support crowds round the race are brilliant with lots of live music too. There is plenty of water-stations on route and large amounts of toilet blocks.

The race was thoroughly enjoyable, great atmosphere the whole way round, very well organised and easy to get too. Defiantly recommend it for people to do!!
